On the contrary,
the tangle at my feet
gray, motionless
would soon
take flight
back to the everywhere.

and clouds, we discovered
hung flutteringly over
every other sound while
with magnificent deliberation
in solemn silence
came another surprise.

over all was the singular beauty
the snow fields
repeated a cloud-formed mass
when the sky cleared off brightly,
the gleaming line
of life renewed,
perfectly satisfied
a bird that is not afraid

Cut paper hummingbirds and text; background in several layers of acrylic pearlescent white and iridescent acrylic medium; the background was gloss varnished before the application of the birds and text; the entire piece is sealed with fixative. On 140 lb Canson watercolor paper.
